    2. The people of Hiroshima, ability to be resilient is because they think they endured all of this for their country. “… Even though they suffered in great agony. They died in silence, with no grudge, setting believing their teeth to bear it. All for the country! Also, that it for the Emperor’s sake. “Yes people of Hiroshima died mainly in the atomic bombing, believing that it was for Emperor’s sake. Father, we can do nothing except make our mind up to consecrate our lives for the country. Let us give Banzai to our Emperor.” This is why Hersey thinks people are resilient.

Hersey's belief about people's ability to be resilient is because the people think that they are going through this all because of the country, and for their Emperor. “I never heard any one cried in disorder, even though they suffered in great agony. 5. 1)
Miss Sasaki- she had been in the. Hospital for a long time before she could even be released, she finally got released from the hospital on crutches and she became a Catholic, but her fiancée never came back to see her and she would sometimes fall into deep depression.

Father Kleinsorge- he became very sick almost on the verge of death, but because of the treatment from the Tokyo hospital be beat the odd of death and lived.

Dr. Fujii- opened up is own medical private clinic.

    2) Hershey's belief about people being able to be resilient comes from the fact that even though theses peoples lives have change dramatically they still work hard to help each other, and that they feel proud to be Japanese. They don't mind suffering for their emperor or their country, because they are proud people even in their times of hardship. This quote proves that they are loud to be from Japan and they take pride in dying for the country and emperor, "What a fortunate we are Japanese, it was my first time I ever tasted such a beautiful spirt when I decided to die for the emperor".

    3) From pages 60-90 the story is taking about how the bomb affected everyone health wise, and how the new government is starting to build up the "new Hiroshima".

Mr. Fujii-Stilled had wounds which later recovered then he started another private hospital.
Mr. Tanimoto- Came back to his church where he found it ruined. As of now there is no plans of him making it better he lost his confidence.
Father kliensorge- Began to feel weak; temperature kept changing, lost blood cells, and became skinny. He was taken to the hospital, discharged, and then later put back in for over working himself.
    Question #2
I think Hersey’s belief about people’s ability to be resilient is that they will never be able to. Not saying that they won’t ever get better but it will never be as it used to be. Deep into the top of page 87 it say “……The lives of these six people, who were among the luckiest in Hiroshima, would never be the same” That says it all.
    Question #3
The war is over, Now; people are recovering and trying to get their lives back on track.

    6. Dr Fuji is injured from burns of the bomb, he finds shelter recovers and opens an private hospital.

    Question 2

Upon reading what I have read thus far I believe Mr. Hersey belief about people being able to be resilient is any one can achieve anything or do anything they want if they are in the right spirit and mindset az it states on page 83 Miss Sasaki is depressed and morbid and it looks like she wont be able to pull through and she was giving up on life but then on page 85 Miss Sasaki was getting well eventually to the point of being recoverd as well as her strength had come back and she lost the spirit of being depressed and morbid but gaining the spirit of hope and life. The spirit of resilient is very powerful and anyone can use it.

    Question 3

  8. Father kleinsorge has been going through the effects of radation sickness and eventually gets better but is not the same.

Mrs. Nakamura also goes through the effects of radation sickness and starts losing hair to eventually getting better.

Miss sasaki's leg gets worse but eventually gets treated and able to walk on cruches.

Mr. Tanimoto becomes ill with radiation sickness as well.

Dr.Sasaki starts treating patients again after his rest now he is not cabable of the work he used to do.

Dr. Fujii bought a vacant private clinic and treats miss sasaki then later loses his hospital.

I think the author feels that some people have tremendous resiliency. In the book it often talks about how the citizens suffered quietly and did not really complain. Also in another part of the book the citizens neglected the fire and started singing the national anthem thinking the had to die for the emperor.

Between pages 60-90 Hiroshimo makes a huge recovery but still have a long way to go.

Hershey believes that the people of Hershey are non-resilient because of the attitude toward the atom bomb. When asked about the atomic bomb Dr. Fuji said "It can'tbe helped . Oh, well. Too bad." It seems to me that the surviving victims feel like there isn't much more to live for.
Pages 60-90 describes the struggle the Hiroshima natives live through after the war is just about over.
